We are delighted to be able to announce the forthcoming availability of this new and exciting edition of Susan Ottaway's account of the life of Guy Gibson.

This book, originally published in 1994 as Dambuster – A Life of Guy Gibson VC, is a new edition and contains some hitherto unpublished information about Guy Gibson's early life. 19 September 2009 marks the 65th anniversary of the death of Guy Gibson, one of the most well-known heroes of the Second World War.

The author was privileged to be able to speak at great length to members of Gibson's family and from those family members came the details for the original book and for this revised edition. It seemed inappropriate in 1994 to include the additional facts that now appear. However it was felt that enough time had passed and that they should be disclosed as they serve to illustrate exactly how difficult was Gibson's early life and how great was his success in overcoming these difficulties. They were perhaps the catalyst that propelled him to prominence in the Royal Air Force and have been disclosed with the full agreement of those family members still known to the author. In addition the book now contains over 100 photos, several of which have never been seen before.
